Life Bloom Project

A collection of fine art photographic prints depicting the layers of delicate petals, deep greens and days of beauty on my kitchen table long after my camera was put away.

The evolution of this body of work is simple; I adore flowers, having them in my home brings me so much joy. Some days, in the thick of it all, they feel like a bit of a life raft - these beautiful blooms on display where my eyes and soul can rest.

I have always held so much value in photography. Preserving the beauty of flowers, as pieces of art to display in our homes and workplaces seemed like an obvious connection.

I have my favourites - almost any bloom with an impossible amount of ruffly petals - I’m looking at you peony, ranunculus, David Austin roses! But of course I find beauty in all of them and all of their phases of bloom from tight in the bud to dropping their last petal. You’ll also find a small but growing collection of herbs as well as fruit and vegetables.

Cut flowers won’t last forever in vessels around our homes, but hanging photographs of your favourites comes in a close second to the real deal.

Peonies of 2021 Limited Edition Collection

The photographs in this twenty-one fine art print limited edition collection were photographed from the same bouquet of peonies over a period of eleven days in November 2021. The blooms lived happily on my kitchen table and were photographed in pockets of light around my home at various times of the day, and otherwise adored in the hours around that.

Every single bud in this bunch opened beautifully - that has never happened before! The quality of the blooms supplied by the grower and selected by my local Brisbane florist (Poco Posy) are evident in this gorgeous display these peonies put on for me.

I always photograph peonies to excess, because of course I do and of course they should be - peonies are excess in the most delicate and unassuming way. It is always a joy to document their fullness and seemingly endless layers; every angle offering a new perspective of their wonder and every version of the the flower from bud to wilt is stunning.

They have such a short season in Australia, hanging a photograph on your wall is one way we can enjoy peonies year round. Each print is limited to an edition of twenty one, with a signed certificate of authenticity affixed to the back of each print.
There is an additional print offered in one size; a sampler of six photographs depicting the peony from tight-in-the-bud to beautifully overblown bloom.

FINE ART PRINTS

The photographs are printed to 300gsm museum grade, fine art cotton rag paper by a local Brisbane professional print lab, packaged with care and mailed to you with so much gratitude.

Limited edition collections have a certificate of authenticity affixed to the back of the prints. Open edition prints are named, signed and dated on the back.
